Airmove takes a holistic approach to indoor climate

Over the past ten years, our understanding of the impact of air pollution has increased significantly, and for this reason, the World Health Organization (WHO) also considers air pollution to be a leading health risk factor. Although the outdoor air in Sweden is clean and fresh in most places, we currently spend about 90% of our time indoors where the air can be up to one hundred times more polluted.

Sick leave costs society approximately SEK 65 billion per year, and according to Lars Östlin, founder of the company Airmove, we could save both suffering and money by improving the indoor climate in our homes.

Lars has worked in the heating and ventilation industry for many years and he understood early on that functional ventilation is a prerequisite for a good indoor climate. He explains that many people add insulation and install new modern windows in their natural draft houses to reduce energy costs. Unfortunately, this means that fresh air no longer naturally enters the home and polluted air no longer exits. This inadequate ventilation can cause diffuse symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, and irritation in the ears, nose, and throat, as well as more serious issues like poor sleep, allergies, and recurring viral infections.

Problems with ventilation also mean that heat distribution from a stove or an air-source heat pump does not work as it should. This leads to an uneven distribution of heat in the home in winter and of coolness in summer. According to Lars, homeowners usually compensate for an uneven distribution of heat and coolness between rooms and between floors by burning more or increasing the power of the air-source heat pump, resulting in increased energy costs.

Four steps to a healthy and energy-efficient home
The solution is four Swedish-manufactured products that take a holistic approach to the indoor climate in our homes. By installing the fresh air vent Airmove 3.0 which draws in fresh air, the heat transfer fan Airmove 1.1 which distributes heat between rooms, or Airmove 2.0 between floors, as well as the bathroom fan Airmove Flow which expels polluted air, Airmove creates healthy and energy-efficient homes. Functional ventilation is therefore not only good for health, but it can also reduce energy consumption and significantly lower heating costs.

Airmove in collaboration with TrygghetsVakten
To further take a holistic approach to indoor climate, Airmove has initiated a collaboration with TrygghetsVakten. TrygghetsVakten is an environmentally friendly solution to most moisture problems that can occur in crawl spaces and attics. Through monitoring, a dehumidifier, when needed, adds heat or increased ventilation to prevent moisture damage from occurring. Just like Airmove's products, TrygghetsVakten is energy-efficient and is only used when necessary.
