Over the last ten years, our understanding of the impact of air pollution has increased significantly and therefore the World Health Organization (WHO) also considers air pollution a leading risk factor for health. Although the outdoor air in Sweden is clean and healthy in most places, today we spend around 90% of our time indoors where the air can be up to a hundred times more polluted.
Sick leave costs society approximately 65 billion per year and according to Lars Östlin, founder of the company Airmove, we could save both suffering and money by improving the indoor climate in our homes.
Lars has been active in the heating and ventilation industry for many years and he understood early on that functional ventilation is a prerequisite for a good indoor climate. He says that many people add additional insulation and install new modern windows in their self-closing houses to reduce energy costs. Unfortunately, this means that the fresh air no longer naturally enters the home and that the polluted air no longer comes out. This insufficient ventilation can both cause diffuse symptoms such as fatigue, headaches and irritation in the ears, nose and throat, but also more serious ones such as poor sleep, allergies and recurrent viral infections.
Problems with the ventilation also mean that the heat spread from a stove or an air source heat pump does not work as it should. This leads to an uneven distribution of heat in the home in winter and cold in summer. According to Lars, home owners usually compensate for an uneven distribution of heat and cold between rooms and between floors by burning more or increasing the effect of the air source heat pump, with increased energy costs as a result.
Four steps to a healthy and energy-efficient home
The solution is four Swedish-made products that take a comprehensive approach to the indoor climate in our homes. By installing the fresh air valve Airmove 3.0 as a leader in fresh air, the heat transfer device Airmove 1.1 distributes the heat between the rooms or Airmove 2.0 between the floors and the bathroom fan Airmove Flow which leads out polluted air, Airmove creates healthy and energy-efficient homes. A functional ventilation is thus not only good for health, it can also reduce energy use and significantly lower heating costs.
Airmove in collaboration with TrygghetsVakten
In order to further take a comprehensive approach to the indoor climate, Airmove has started a collaboration with TrygghetsVakten. TrygghetsVakten is an environmentally friendly solution to most moisture problems that can arise in crawl spaces and attics. Through monitoring, a dehumidifier adds heat or increased ventilation when needed, which prevents moisture damage from occurring. Just like Airmove's products, TrygghetsVakten is energy efficient and is only used when needed.
