Can I heat my entire house with an air-source heat pump?
It's not possible to give an exact answer as this depends on many factors. Let's start by stating that an air-source heat pump is a supplement; in other words, you can never completely replace your existing heating system with an air-source heat pump. However, if your house has an open-plan layout and the heat pump is correctly sized and placed, you can heat most of your house for most of the year. In these cases, you can expect the heat pump to cover approximately 80-90% of your heating needs.
How much can I save with an air-source heat pump?
Generally, one can expect savings of approximately 40-60% if the house has an open-plan layout, the sizing is correct, and the indoor unit is centrally located to allow for maximum heat distribution. Of course, in combination with Airmove, you can spread the heat throughout the entire house and save even more on your heating costs.
Does the indoor air really improve after installing an air-source heat pump?
Yes, it actually does! Today's air-source heat pumps have advanced filter systems with a coarse filter that captures dust and a finer mesh filter that eliminates allergens, viruses, and bacteria. The best proof that indoor air actually improves is that many allergy sufferers experience a reduction in their symptoms after installing an air-source heat pump.
How much maintenance does the system require?
That depends on the model you choose. Most commonly, the filters need to be cleaned once or twice a month. We believe most people are happy to take the time to do this, especially since they are rewarded with savings!
We also recommend a maintenance service including operational checks and more advanced cleaning after two years of use, and then at regular intervals. A maintenance service performed by us ensures that the heat pump functions correctly and extends its lifespan.
