In the small industrial town of Kolsva outside Köping, Tobias Back, Fagersta's head of business development, lives in an older house with a crawl space foundation. The house was built with one and a half stories, natural draft, and a fireplace, but a few years before Tobias moved in, the previous owners installed geothermal heating and a heat pump.

According to Tobias, the house has been sealed in various stages over the years, which has led to the natural draft no longer functioning. This means that the ventilation and air circulation have stopped, resulting in a poor indoor climate. Tobias explains that the air felt stale and there was a significant temperature difference between the ground floor and the upper floor. When he lit the fireplace, it could be 24 degrees Celsius on the ground floor but only 19 degrees Celsius upstairs.

During the winter, Tobias will keep an eye on energy costs, but he expects to make significant energy savings because the heat is distributed better in the house and he can reduce the power of the heat pump.
