It was in connection with an OVK that Johan Erlandsson and his neighbors in brf was told that their apartments certainly had good flows and good energy values upstairs and downstairs but that they lacked circulation between the floors. As the apartments have air source heat pumps, they contacted the supplier for advice and it was he who recommended Airmove's products.
Johan has lived since 2016 in the housing association Halleskogen in Vargön in Vänersborg municipality. Johan sits on the board of the association, which has 127 apartments in the majority of wooden houses built in 1981. The larger apartments have two floors and it was in them that the neighbors started talking about the big temperature differences they had between the floors and that the electricity use was so high.
"It was like a lid on the stairs where we could really feel the temperature difference between downstairs and upstairs."
They received the recommendation to install Airmove 2.0, a heat mover that creates air circulation between the house's floors and thus evens out the temperature differences. With Airmove 2.0, the cold air is pushed down to the lower floor where the heat source is located, causing the warm air to rise through the stairwell and create a circulation. The board decided that they would install an Airmove 2.0 in Johan's apartment on a trial basis and then evaluate.
“Our condominium association likes to test things. We are not afraid to try new things.”
Immediately after the installation, Johan could state that the difference was noticeable and that the biggest difference was during the winter months. The cover on the stairs was gone and the temperature was evenly distributed between the floors. Barely a year later, the board therefore decided to install Airmove 2.0 in all 4s, 5s and 6s that have apartments on two floors, a total of 52 apartments.
Because Airmove 2.0 spreads both heat and cold in the house, the residents not only got a more even indoor temperature, but also a reduced electricity use. Installing a heat mover can reduce heating costs by up to 40% and according to Johan, the installation of Airmove has definitely increased the value of the apartments. Both for those who live there and for those who will sell their condominium in the future.
"We can say to new members that thanks to Airmove, they will have less electricity use and a better indoor climate."
